Leafcutter bees are powerful summer pollinators, active when many vegetable gardens are bursting with flowers. As they move from bloom to bloom collecting pollen on their bellies, they transfer pollen between flowers, helping plants produce more successfully pollinated fruits and vegetables. Better pollination can mean a bigger, more productive summer harvest.
Leafcutter bees are tiny, about the size of a watermelon seed, but they’re powerful summer pollinators. They carry loose pollen on their bellies, pollinating up to 95% of the flowers they visit. Their small size lets them reach even the tiniest blooms, helping your garden produce more flowers, fruits and vegetables.

Setting up your leafcutter bees is easy! Place your bee house in a warm, sunny location, add clean nesting materials, and set out your cocoons when summer temperatures are consistently warm. Leafcutter bees typically begin emerging after several weeks of temperatures around 75°F or warmer, just as summer gardens are coming into bloom. Watch our step-by-step video below to see exactly how to set up and release your leafcutter bees.
