Privacy Policy

This privacy policy has been compiled to better serve those who are concerned with how their ‘Personally identifiable information’ (PII) is being used online. PII, as used in US privacy law and information security, is information that can be used on its own or with other information to identify, contact, or locate a single person, or to identify an individual in context. Please read our privacy policy carefully to get a clear understanding of how we collect, use, protect or otherwise handle your Personally Identifiable Information in accordance with our website.

What personal information do we collect from the people that visit our blog or website?
When ordering or registering on our site, as appropriate, you may be asked to enter your name, email address, mailing address, phone number, credit card information or other details to help you with your experience. If you type a billing address that is not your shipping address, we keep it with that order. We use it to track your shipment and to stop misuse of our referral and coupon offers. We do not save it to your account or use it for marketing. We keep the first place we met you (UTM, landing page, and referrer) on your person record and we do not overwrite it. Each order stores the last-touch UTM from that checkout plus Hear About Us. Those will not always match. Google Analytics and Google Ads use Consent Mode Advanced. The tags load on shopper pages with ads and analytics storage denied until you Accept. Before you choose, Google may receive a cookieless ping and does not set ads cookies. If you Reject, even after Accept, we stop sending analytics and ad events. Google's tag still loads and may send cookieless pings that set no ads cookies. Global Privacy Control is an opt-out of sale or sharing: Google Ads stay denied even if you Accept, and analytics can still follow Accept. Meta Pixel, when that tag is on, loads only after Accept and stays off under Global Privacy Control. The footer link Your Privacy Choices opens this same choice.

Google
Google’s advertising requirements can be summed up by Google’s Advertising Principles. They are put in place to provide a positive experience for users https://support.google.com/adwordspolicy/answer/1316548?hl=en
We use Google Analytics and Google Ads on shopper pages. The Ads tag is the purchase conversion, on the same Google tag as Analytics. Meta Pixel loads on those pages only after Accept, when that tag is on. Consent Mode is Advanced: the tags load with ads and analytics storage denied until you Accept. Before you choose, Google may receive a cookieless ping. It does not set ads cookies. Accept grants those signals. If you Reject, even after Accept, we stop sending analytics and ad events. Google's tag still loads and may send cookieless pings that set no ads cookies. Global Privacy Control keeps the ad signals denied even if you Accept. Analytics can still follow Accept. On a paid order, if you granted ads consent, the thank-you page can send your email and phone to Google for enhanced conversions. We do not send that data when ads consent is denied.

Opting out:
Use Reject on the banner, or the footer link Your Privacy Choices. That choice is stored first-party in this browser. You can also set preferences for how Google advertises to you using the Google Ad Settings page, opt out through the Network Advertising Initiative, or use the Google Analytics Opt Out Browser add-on.

California Online Privacy Protection Act
CalOPPA is the first state law in the nation to require commercial websites and online services to post a privacy policy. The law’s reach stretches well beyond California to require a person or company in the United States (and conceivably the world) that operates websites collecting personally identifiable information from California consumers to post a conspicuous privacy policy on its website stating exactly the information being collected and those individuals with whom it is being shared, and to comply with this policy. – See more at: http://consumercal.org/california-online-privacy-protection-act-caloppa/…

According to CalOPPA we agree to the following:

  • Users can visit our site anonymously
  • Once this privacy policy is created, we will add a link to it on our home page, or as a minimum on the first significant page after entering our website.
  • Our Privacy Policy link includes the word ‘Privacy’, and can easily be found on the page specified above.
  • Users will be notified of any privacy policy changes:

On our Privacy Policy Page

  • Users are able to change their personal information:

How does our site handle Global Privacy Control?
If your browser sends Global Privacy Control, we honor that as an opt-out of sale or sharing. Google Ads and Meta stay off even if you Accept. Analytics can still follow Accept. We do not set ads cookies in that case.

Does our site allow third party behavioral tracking?
Google Ads and Meta Pixel run only after Accept, and they stay off when Global Privacy Control is on. Google may still receive a cookieless ping before you choose. That ping does not set ads cookies.

COPPA (Children Online Privacy Protection Act)
When it comes to the collection of personal information from children under 13, the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) puts parents in control. The Federal Trade Commission, the nation’s consumer protection agency, enforces the COPPA Rule, which spells out what operators of websites and online services must do to protect children’s privacy and safety online.
We do not specifically market to children under age 13.

Fair Information Practices
The Fair Information Practices Principles form the backbone of privacy law in the United States and the concepts they include have played a significant role in the development of data protection laws around the globe. Understanding the Fair Information Practice Principles and how they should be implemented is critical to comply with the various privacy laws that protect personal information.
In order to be in line with Fair Information Practices we will take the following responsive action, should a data breach occur:
We will notify the users via email

  • Within 7 business days

We will notify the users via in site notification

  • Within 3 business days.

We also agree to the individual redress principle, which requires that individuals have a right to pursue legally enforceable rights against data collectors and processors who fail to adhere to the law. This principle requires not only that those individuals have enforceable rights against data users, but also that those individuals have recourse to courts or a government agency to investigate and/or prosecute non-compliance by data processors.

Your Privacy Choices

Choose below, or use the Your Privacy Choices link in the footer. We save your choice in this browser ourselves, not through a third party. If your browser sends Global Privacy Control, we honor it as an opt-out of sale or sharing.

Approximate location for shipping guidance

If you Accept cookies, we may read an approximate US state or region from your IP so the About Mason Bees map can open to shipping and cocoon-release guidance for that area. We do not use street-level location. We do not sell this data. If you Reject cookies or send Global Privacy Control, we do not detect your region. Pick your state on the map instead.

Accept turns on Google Analytics and Google Ads, plus Meta Pixel when that tag is on. Before you choose, Google may get a cookieless ping that sets no ads cookies. If you Reject, even after Accept, we stop sending analytics and ad events. Google's tag still loads and may send cookieless pings that set no ads cookies. With Accept, your email and phone are sent to Google in hashed form to measure ad conversions. Global Privacy Control is an opt-out of sale or sharing: Google Ads and Meta stay off even if you Accept, but Analytics can still turn on. Region detect stays off with Reject or Global Privacy Control. The footer link opens these same choices and saves them the same way as the banner. Our own store records still count visits and the steps to purchase. If you enter your email at checkout and leave, we may email you a link back to your cart, unless you Reject, send Global Privacy Control, or unsubscribe through that email. If you came from a referral or affiliate link, a store cookie applies that offer.

This browser. First-party choice. We honor Global Privacy Control when this browser sends it.

This browser is not sending Global Privacy Control.

Your choice on this device: not opted out.Your choice on this device: opted out of ad sharing.

Accept turns on Google Analytics. Google Ads and Meta Pixel turn on only with ads consent. Before you choose, Google may get a cookieless ping that sets no ads cookies. If you Reject, even after Accept, we stop sending analytics and ad events. Google's tag still loads and may send cookieless pings that set no ads cookies. Our own store records still count visits and the steps to purchase. This is our own banner, not a paid cookie popup.

Accept may include an approximate state or region from your IP for shipping and cocoon-release guidance. Reject or Global Privacy Control turns that detect off.
