At Rent Mason Bees, Everything Starts with One Question:How Can We Care for Mason Bees Better?
As the nation's largest solitary bee provider, we clean and care for millions of cocoons each year and along the way, one thing became clear: nesting material matters.
Cardboard nesting tubes are a healthy, cleanable option, but they come with a drawback: each tube needs its own plug.
One tube. One plug. Fifty tubes. Fifty plugs.
That challenge sparked a better idea.
Owner Jim Watts and his son Kelton set out to create a simpler way to protect all nesting tubes at once. Using a 3D printer and real-world testing, Kelton developed what became the BEE SHIELD™, a single solution that protects up to 50 tubes at once.
The BEE SHIELD™ replaces dozens of individual plugs, helping keep nesting chambers dark, protected, and easier to manage.
