Pollinate your garden all spring and summer long with gentle, solitary bees! We will ship the bees directly to your door in early spring with everything you need to host both mason and leafcutter bees.

VIDEO - What is inside a Pollinator Package and how to set up your bees.

Your kit will include: 50-60 mason bee cocoons in an emergence tube, mason bee nesting block, hangable wood house, a second nesting block filled with 50-60 leafcutter bees, a packet of flower seeds, and a bag of clay. The kit will also contain instructions for how to hang the house, when to put out each bee species, how to send the bees back, and a return shipping label. Already have a permanent bee house? Reserve our Pollinator Package Insert.

Mason bees can be shipped to most of the 50 U.S. states. Mason bees bees cannot be rented in Hawaii, Alaska, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, and Louisiana due to weather conditions being unsuitable for our bees. This kit cannot be mailed to P.O. Boxes.

OUR SERVICE INCLUDES FALL CLEANING: At Rent Mason Bees we offer a way for people to be a part of their food source and help native solitary bee populations, but not have to worry about doing the fall cleaning which is critical when hosting mason bees. When you rent our bees, you keep your black house and send your nesting blocks back to us in September. We will then harvest and clean all your cocoons to remove harmful predators like pollen mites, Houdini fly larvae and chalkbrood. Then, we sterilize all your nesting blocks over fire and flame to burn any remaining predators. After they’re all cleaned and dried, we place them on a light table and pick out any non-viable bees. They are then placed in cool storage to safely hibernate over winter. The bees we send you will be healthy, strong and eager to pollinate your blooms.

Timeline of Pollinator Package kit (example for PNW Region):
March: Receive kit
March-June: Hang the black house in the sunniest spot in your yard. Put your mason bee nesting block in the black house, take the tape off of the emergence tube and set it in the box next to or on top of the nesting block. Watch the bees work hard to pollinate your fruit trees and lay their eggs in the nesting block. Put your leafcutter bee block in your garage or basement as they will not be ready to emerge until the summer.
June: You will receive an email when it is time to bring mason bees into your garage or basement to protect from predators. At that time, insert your leafcutter bee block into your black house. The leafcutter bees are already in the block. Once temperatures reach 80 degrees F, they will be triggered to hatch out of the block.
June-August: Watch your vegetable garden thrive as your leafcutter bees are flying around and pollinating your crops and use the nesting block to lay their eggs.
September: Use the box your bees came in and your return shipping label to send us back the bees. We will take care of your bees during the winter months.
