VIDEO – How we safely ship mason bees

In the fall mason bees spin a strong silken cocoon that is insulated and waterproof. In the spring, when we’re ready to ship you bees they are snug in their cocoon and safe for transportation.

We put 50-60 cocoons in an emergence tube, which is a small PVC tube. This tube has a little hole at the end covered in tape. You remove the tape and place the tube on top of your nesting block inside the bee house. Bees will emerge when the weather starts warming up to 55 degrees.

Please reserve your bees early. Farmers use our bees to pollinate their crops, so we have a limited supply for our gardeners.
